- In order to ensure that you are aware of and adopt the appropriate protection measures, BPI puts emphasis on 11 Security Rules for internet and online banking services users, for you to consider at any time:
- Keep your operating system and internet access browser(s) updated.
- Install antivirus and antispyware software, keeping it up-to-date, and scan the computer with this software frequently.
- Never give out personal and/or confidential details without being sure you are on a safe site.
- Validate the Security Certificate of the site where you are browsing. When double-clicking, the browser should open the window with information about the certificate, indicating if it is valid and if it was issued to the correct entity.
- Make sure that the graphics on the page you access are the same as those you are used to. If you notice that the type of window, the information presented or the information requested is other than usual, you should check with the entity if any changes have occurred.
- Do not open or run files or attachments in emails, unless you are expecting them and know what they are about. Even emails sent by people you know may contain dangerous files or attachments.
- Never give out personal and/or confidential details in response to requests via email.
- Do not use PIN's, passwords or access codes that can be easily tracked. Do not give them to anyone.
- If you want to use the site to carry out confidential transactions, namely, to execute financial transactions, access the site by typing the full address directly into the address bar of your browser.
- Check your bank account statements regularly. If you find any unusual activity, contact Banco BPI immediately.
- Do not log in to online banking services or other sites via:
- addresses stored in your Favourites and/or History folders;
- links in email messages;
- results of searches on search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc).

What to do if in doubt or if you see suspicious activity
If you see any activity that gives you any doubts or make you suspicious in respect to BPI's online banking services, you should contact us straightaway on 800 200 102 (or +351 21 720 77 61 if you are not in Portugal).
