Perception and reality
Our perceptions of reality often contrast with the big macroeconomic figures. Specifically, we are referring to the performance of the Portuguese economy over the last decade, growing more than all its peers and, along the way, continuing to correct the structural problems and imbalances it once suffered from, which led to an international bailout in the past. We and the national and international institutions we follow have made the central assumption that this improved performance will continue in 2025. And perceptions are likely to improve this year, given the expectation of lower interest rates, controlled inflation close to 2% and wage increases that restore purchasing power.
